AP7 opposes U.S. proposal to rescind climate disclosure rules
Sweden's AP7 pension fund said it opposes the U.S. SEC proposal to scrap climate-risk and spending disclosure rules. Reuters reported that AP7 said removal could impair investors' ability to assess climate-related financial risks. More than 60% of the fund's equity holdings are in North American companies, and it uses climate information in analysis, stewardship and proxy voting.
AP7 said it opposes the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission proposal to scrap rules requiring companies to disclose climate-related risks and spending. The Swedish pension fund said removing the rules could impair investors’ ability to assess climate-related financial risks and make informed investment decisions. Reuters reported that more than 60% of AP7’s equity holdings are invested in North American companies. AP7 uses climate-related information in investment analysis, stewardship activities, proxy voting and assessment of physical, regulatory and systemic risks.
